Engagement Session Guide

A Note Before Your Shoot Together

To help us create the most beautiful images of your love story,
here's everything you need to know before we meet.

I.

Before You Arrive

Outfit Coordination

Aim for complementary tones rather than matching outfits exactly — it photographs more naturally and shows individual personality.
Consider bringing two outfit sets (casual + semi-formal) for a variety of moods and looks within the same session.
Avoid busy small patterns — they can create a moiré effect on camera. Stick to solids or large, soft patterns.
Iron or steam all outfits the night before. Wrinkles show clearly in photos.
Avoid linen — it wrinkles very easily and is hard to manage on shoot days.

— Color Palette Suggestions —

Cream / Beige
Sage Green
Lavender
Terracotta / Mustard
Navy / Slate
Bright Red — avoid
Pure White outdoors — avoid

Hair & Makeup

Go slightly more polished than your everyday look — cameras tend to soften makeup, so a bit more definition reads beautifully on screen.
For outdoor sessions, bring blotting paper or a setting powder to control shine throughout the shoot.
Style your hair the morning of, or consider a salon appointment a few hours before the session.
A lip color adds a beautiful focal point in photos — choose one that fits the mood you're going for.

Shoes

For outdoor locations with walking, prioritize comfort. Beautiful shoes are great, but not if they make you miserable.
If wearing heels, bring a pair of flats as backup — you'll thank yourself later.
Give your shoes a quick clean beforehand, especially the soles. Scuffed or dirty shoes show in photos.
II.

Props & Location

Props

Props are a wonderful way to add personality and tell your story. If you have something special in mind, please let me know in advance so we can plan how to incorporate it.

— Popular Choices —

✓ Engagement ring
✓ Bouquet or single flower
✓ Picnic basket & blanket
✓ Wine or champagne
✓ Your pet
✓ Something meaningful to you

Location-Specific Tips

Beach / Coastal — Bring flip flops, a small towel, and water to rinse your feet.
Park / Nature Trail — Comfortable shoes are essential. Light, neutral tones photograph beautifully against greenery.
Urban / Street — We'll be moving between spots, so bring easy-to-carry backup shoes.
Golden Hour — Please arrive 15 minutes early. The light window is short.

Reference Photos

Share any mood or pose references at least a week before the session — Instagram, Pinterest links, or saved photos all work great.
The more references you share, the better I can match the look and feel you're envisioning.
Don't worry about finding perfect examples — even rough ideas help set the direction.
III.

On the Day

Day-of Tips

Aim to arrive 15 minutes early. A relaxed start makes for a relaxed shoot.
Eat beforehand. Hunger shows on your face more than you think.
Feeling awkward in front of a camera is completely normal. We always start with a warm-up.
The best photos come from genuine moments — laughing, whispering, teasing each other.
